Video Games Thread 2016 (Fallout 4)
I can't remember if there's already been a thread this year for Video Games, but the announcement of Fallout 4 is deserved of a thread of its own.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lnn2rJpjar4

7 YEARS since the last one (discounting New Vegas which was great but pretty much a huge expansion of Fallout 3).

The trailer looks absolutely beautiful and despite a few complaints about some of the textures and lighting, has been very well received. The full release anouncement will be at E3 a week Sunday.

Looks really good, I've never played any of the fallout games but still can't put down Dying Light such a good game.

If you connect your phone up as a PipBoy there is an excellent Missile Command clone on it.

There's a new kickstarter for a spiritual successor to Sensible Soccer. Not sure about the name, but I'd love to see the game. https://twitter.com/Sociable_Soccer

Yeah agree Joey.
If there's a quest where you have to build, then fair enough. Otherwise I can live without it.

Found a Donkey Kong game in the vault which you play on the PIP boy , that I was on for a fair bit.

Haven't had any issues with lag or frame rate stuff either.

The building structures thing isn't too bad if you use the pre-made houses rather than building one from scratch.

Also, if there's a seriously run down house you can scrap the whole thing for materials. To be honest, I doubt I'll be doing much of the building stuff unless it is required, at least for the time-being.

Managed to get about an hour in tonight after leaving the vault.

The building structures bit seems a bit confusing so far, but just wondering around collecting bottle caps, shooting bloat flies is great fun.

Loving Fallout so far. No issues whatsoever - surprised it runs quite so well on my older PC honestly.

Currently building up my first settlement - loving the base-building stuff (though barely started yet).

You wont notice it on the console but you will on PC.

I've played around 5 hours of it today and have only encountered one issue so far (on Xbox One). No frame rate issues and I'm not too bothered about that stuff anyway.

It plays excellently and I've barely touched any of the missions yet.

Re: Video Games Thread 2016 (Fallout 4)
Quite a lot of folk complaining if Frame rate issues on the PC version of Fallout.

The consoles are locked at 30 fps which is slowing the movement of the characters on the screen, Item physics and the like.

On the PC version there is a a way to change the FPS to 250 fps and it sees an increase in combat movement and Item physics.

So in essence they have dumbed the game down on the PC so people wont be able to compare and see how shit the Console engine is up against the PC.

Folk aint happy...

Not a twitch gamer my self, mostly PC strategy games including a bit of FM usually at Christmas Probably my favourite of recent games is the X-COM remake.

Really interested in games as story telling medium, so I have watch the development of things like Assassins Creed (new one in London) , MGS 5, Last of US and Destiny's latest patch etc.

I only play a couple of EA games to be honest, FIFA and NHL. The kids play Minecraft and Lego and all that shit, but I never get involved with anything like GTA or COD, too geeky even for me.
